The Estate is located at the heart of the Appellation Viré CLessé, one of the three "crus" in Mâconnais region. After studiying oenology and viticulture, Perrette Michelle and Marc Guillemot took over in 1985 Pierrette's parent's Estate. The heritage was intact at their arrival: 6,5 hectares of old vines of Chardonnay, spread across the coteaux of Quintaine. They handled the conversion to organic viticulture, and very quickly engaged into biodynamics from 1991 on. They were among the pionneers in the region, adding their voice to the call for a respect of the soils Any use of synthetic treatments are therefore banned, and is replaced by the use of plant-based preparations grown in Pierrette's garden. Yiests and bacteria react naturally in the cellar, triggering both alcoolinc and malolactic fermentations, in concrete vats. The wines are always aged on lees, until the bottling, at the start of the summer. The Mâcon Quintaine reaches today a certain level of balance, with concentration and sapidity. Marc and Pierrette now are giving way to their daughter Sophie and her partner Gauthier. The range now includes a vibrant MArc de Bourgogne. The Mâconnais again proves a revolutionary region!
