About the Producer

The Gauthier family belongs to the dynasties in Appellation Bourgueil, and the estate has seduced for two generations the amateurs of great wines from the Loire Valley.
Located in Benais, the vines are planted on the most limestone terroir of the region.
These tuffeau-chalky soils render amazingly elegant wines, subtle and intense with depth.
Pierre Gauthier signs his first vintage in 1995, and an immense work carried out in the vineyard and in the cellars now bears his fruits. The wines however need to be cellared a few years, this time being…
necessary for the noble tanins of Cabernet Franc to polish.
A monument among the wines of the Estate: the "Clos Nouveau." This slot, actually surrounded by stone walls, just like in Burgundy, gains his telluric strength from the chalk-tuffeau soil. The wine is aged for 24 months in vats having contained two or three wines, before to be bottled with no filtration.
After a ten year ageing, its texture proves the noble roots of a grape variety that too often gets poor treatment.
A voluptuous texture is paired with subtle and chalky tanins, and unleashes infinitely aromas of flowers and graphite.
