Domaine Pichat

In this mythical region of the Rhône Valley, the vineyards of Côte Rôtie and Condrieu are pioneers. These Appellations from the northern part of the Valley, give birth to legendary wines.
Among the few lucky winegrowers that inhabit these places, the Pichat Estate holds a privileged position: five hectares of vineyards, spread across small slots, with varied soils.
This library of single-vineyards is essential for the estate, that can…
produce unique wines, true expressions of their soils. In order to bring the singularity of the soils into the glasses, the vines need to dig deep into the mineral resources of the ground. These are then handled without any artificial produce, in the respect of the living.
The majority of the products used by the Estate are certified in Organic Viticulture. …
Six cuvées compose the range of the Pichat Estate.
To start with, the Estate proposes a red Syrah, a white Viognier, both very enjoyable with their fruity notes.
The two wines are made from vines planted on schists soils, and aged less than a year in used barrels. These are supple and easy-to-drink wines, with nice ageing potentials.
The Condrieu "La Caille" is a perfect rendition of the slot that goes…
by the same name, a single-vineyard facing south.
This Condrieu provides a persistant nose. It allows for great pairings with an asparagus risotto, or a roasted lobster with soft spices.
Now with the reds, the Côte-Rôtie Löss (vines planted on a stony soil with Loess) can be enjoyed within five years, the tannins being always polished and supple.
The Côte-Rôtie "Champons" and "Grandes Places" benefit of a more…
serious ageing (24 months), with a majority of new oak. These bottles should be left a good ten years in your cellar.
With the ageing, the aromatic expression of Grandes Places evolves into more vanilla, and torrefaction aromas, and will reward the taster's painful patience.
