Provence

The vineyards of Provence represent less than 4% of the French vineyard surface area, i.e. 31,780 hectares of vines spread over nine Appellations d'Origine Contrôlée. There are 600 producers in Provence and 40 trading houses that produce over 160 million bottles of wine, mainly rosé (88.5%) but also red (8%) and white wine (3.5%). The grape varieties used for red and rosé wine are Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Tibouren, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon, while…
white wines are produced from Rolle, Ugni Blanc, Clairette, Sémillon and Bourboulenc grapes.
