The vineyards of Provence represent less than 4% of the French vineyard surface area, i.e. 31,780 hectares of vines spread over nine Appellations d'Origine Contrôlée. There are 600 producers in Provence and 40 trading houses that produce over 160 million bottles of wine, mainly rosé (88.5%) but also red (8%) and white wine (3.5%).
