The producer

Château Beauséjour

Château Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarosse, a Premier Grand Cru Classé B from Saint-Émilion, produces great Bordeaux red wines from an exceptional limestone terroir. The estate is currently experiencing a renaissance thanks to the partnership of Joséphine Duffau-Lagarrosse and Prisca Courtin, marking a transition and the continuation of a vision of excellence. Located on the Saint-Émilion limestone plateau, Château Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarosse (approximately 6.75 to 6.8 hectares) has been a pillar of the appellation since the 15th century, with the Duffau-Lagarosse family history established since 1847. This Saint-Émilion vineyard is now under the stewardship of Joséphine Duffau-Lagarrosse, representing the 9th family generation. This transition ensures family continuity and new momentum for this Premier Grand Cru Classé B. The distinctive character of the estate's red wines comes from its clay-limestone soils and vines averaging fifty years old. The grape varietal blend, predominantly Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and sometimes a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, is cultivated with respectful viticulture. Manual harvesting and rigorous sorting precede parcel-by-parcel vinification and precise aging in barrels for 12 to 18 months, allowing for the production of great classified Saint-Émilion wines with a refined structure. Château Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarosse is the main cuvée. This excellent red wine offers an aromatic profile of black fruits, floral, and mineral notes, with a dense, precise palate and silky tannins. Its remarkable aging potential allows for refinement over long periods. The second wine, Croix de Beauséjour, offers a more accessible expression while retaining the elegance of the grand wine.
