"A blend of 52% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc, the sexy, complex, fragrant 2000 La Tour Haut-Brion is the finest wine made under the ownership of the Dillon family and their brilliant administrator, Jean-Bernard Delmas. The vintage yielded fabulous raw materials, the vineyard is older, and more young vine Merlot is making it into the blend, thus fattening up what was once a herbaceous, more Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated wine. The dense purple-colored 2000 boasts a gorgeously sweet perfume of plums, black currants, tobacco, and a hint of olives. Sweet, ripe, and medium to full-bodied, with terrific richness, purity, and copious tannin, this is the finest La Tour Haut-Brion since the 1982. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020." Robert M. Château La Tour Haut-Brion

Elaborated by the same team as Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion, of which he was for long the second time, La Tour Haut-Brion offers the same style of his elder. Cru Classé of Graves in 1953 (appellation Pessac-Léognan), the vineyard was united to the one of La Mission Haut-Brion in 2006, and all the grapes grown on the terroir of La Tour Haut-Brion now integrate the blend of La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion, thereby making the second wine one of the greats : it now establishes itself as a long ageing wine, of great complexity, that rivals in refinement and depth with many Grand Crus Classés. Robert Parker rated it 90 points in 1999, 92 in 2000, 89 in 2001 and 2005, the last vintage he graded was therefore 2005.
