The producer

Château Lafon-Rochet

Located in the Medoc, and owned by the Tesseron family, Château Lafon Rochet spreads over 41 hectares of vineyards, covering the two rounded hilltops of Saint-Estèphe. The history of the Estate is glorious, the Château having made the coveted 1855 classification. He would consequently be among the 61 wines to be presented at the Paris Universal Exposition the same year. Decades later, the « recipe » has barely changed: a blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot (with the addition, depending on the vintage, of a little bit of cabernet franc and petit verdot). 2015 marked the creation of two brand new winemaking cellars out of stainless steel and concrete. The ageing now takes place in oak barrels (50% new) for a duration of 16 to 18 months. The wine is always silky, full-bodied with a very spicy character.
