Champagne Dehours et Fils

The Marne Valley shelters a great many smaller Champagne Houses, that still cutivate a grape variety that has only recently come back into light: Pinot Meunier. The Dehours House is one of them. Located in Cerseuil, this family-run estate is now managed by Jérôme Dehours. Like many of his peers from the new generation of winegrowers in Champagne, he is very focused on his work in the vineyard. The man is very keen on bringing out the full potential of all 42 slots of his vineyard. All choices of the winegrower aim at providing the greatest respect to the living, both in the vineyard or in the cellar. The soils are worked on by hand, and any chemicals have been banned. The quantities of copper and suplhites have been greatly diminished. A single slot philosophy is preferred, so as the highlight the plurality of the terroir, with an ageing systematically taking place in old barrels. The idea is to propose a range of creamy bubbles, with a recognizeable style, sometimes hinting at a subtle and controled oxydation. A solera was actually started in 1998, including all wines of the Estate. This perpetual reserve is included into several cuvées such as "Grande Réserve", "Les Vignes de la Vallée" or even "Trio S". The Coteaux Champenois stand out with their concentration, the juices are never filtered and are aged for a long time in oak barrels.
