The producer

Clos Maïa

Géraldine Laval is a happy and militant winegrower. She caught the virus of the wineyard during an internship at the Domaine Olivier Leflaive, in Burgundy, where she really fell for this job. She promised herself she too would make her own great wines. Having passed a degree in winemaking and viticulture, she carried on her observations at Jean-Louis Chave's, which finished to convince her. She fell quickly in love with Larzac, and its vines on sidehills. With the help of Olivier Jullien, she will finally settle there and buy her first 3 hectares of vineyards in 2008. The adventure starts! The estate, quite isolated, is located at the North West of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. Chalk dominates in the soils. Géraldine aims at giving back to Grenache its finest expression, and the cuvée "Clos Maïa" in red is the purest expression, a real gem. Another fun curiosity: some vines of chenin are part of the blend in white. Tasting this wine will surely convince all skeptics who doubt the pertinence of this grape variety in the region!
