Domaine Arlaud

Located at the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits, the confidential village of Morey-Saint-Denis is overshadowed by the more famous villages of Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny. Still, connoisseurs know better: some of the finest soils of Côte-de-Nuits can be found in Morey. We are firmly believe Domaine Arlaud embodies the great potential of this village, through the immense sensibility of a talented winegrower. Cyprien Arlaud is a strong believer in biodynamic farming, which he established when he took over the estate. Now assisted by his sister Bertille, they go even further in their work of the soils, using a horse for ploughing. The entire Estate is certified Demeter (biological farming) since 2014, and the wines are very bright, proof that it is vain to look for power through extraction. Healthy and ripe pinot noir grapes are the best possible material, and it seems useless to spoil it with human interventions. Using wood to cover-up has never been called for at the Estate. All cuvées are different, but the style of the Domaine shines through each and every one of them: mouth-watering wines, with great length, notes of peppered roses, sandalwood and blood orange skins. It should also be stated that both impetuous Grands Crus, Clos Saint Denis and Clos de la Roche, belong to the finest wines of the Côte-de-Nuits.
