The producer

Domaine Bachelet-Monnot

When the two brothers Marc and Alexandre took over the few vines from their parents, they were not expecting such an instant success for the Domaine. Of course, they did inherit from a solid family know-how, but also from their own personal experiences at Domaine Michel Bouzereau and Domaine du Monteillet (Côte Rôtie). With all these cards in hand, the Bachelet brothers began their adventure. The original vineyard lays near Maranges and Santenay, but the Domaine steadily grew north following the acquisition of plots in Chassagne, Meursault and Puligny, for a total of 20 hectares nowadays. Despite not being certified, the vineyard is treated with biodynamic preparations and the soils are ploughed respectfully. To age their wines, the two brothers favour large old vessels such as 350 liters half-muids, while bottling happens on flower day according to Maria Thun’s lunar calendar. The perpetual quest for tension and balance drives the daily efforts of the Domaine, leading to an ever growing reputation among the world’s amateurs.
