Domaine des Comtes Lafon

Just like his peers Christophe Roumier or Etienne Grivot, Dominique Lafon embodies this flamboyant generation of winegrowers, fully dedicated to maintaining the legendary status of the Burgundian vineyard. Long before taking over their own Estates, these three men were already driven by sheer passion, organising wine blind tastings and dinners. Inspired by legendary role models such as Henri Jayer or Gérard Potel, Dominique knew he would have to reinvent his Estate, if he was to maintain its quality. One of the first changes was the gradual suppression of chemical treatments in the vines: Burgundy would have to part with traditional agricultural practices to move forward and hold its rank. From as early as the nineties, he developed an interest for biodynamics practices, and never stopped challenging it. The entire Estate is a showcase of the best first growth Meursault has to offer, namely slots les Bouchères, les Genevrières, Charmes and the mythical Perrières. The Volnay Santenots du Milieu is known as the « Chambolle Musigny of the Côte de Beaune »: the wine perfectly matches delicacy and power. A gem!
