Domaine Ghislaine Barthod

The 6,5-hectare Domaine is the pride of Chambolle Musigny where it is almost entirely located. Clément, son of Ghislaine Barthod and Louis Boillot has now joined his parents to keep producing wines of the highest and noble classicism of Chambolle, though he encourages to use a bit less new oak and lengthen the ageing of the wines. Each of the 11 crus shines through the singularity of its terroir. While the Chambolle 1er Cru Les Fuées is round and velvety, the 1er Cru Les Cras should wait for at least 10 years in the cellar to open up. Always subtle and fresh (Domaine Ghislaine Barthod are often among the first in town to harvest along Domaine Rousseau), the wines still have plenty of structure and tannins to offer thanks to whole-bunch fermentation. Years go by but the Domaine undoubtedly remains an indisputable and undisputed reference of the Côte-d’Or.
