Domaine Peyre Rose
From the village of Saint Pargoire, a long sinuous road leads across the countryside to the Peyre Rose Estate. In complete isolation, Marlène Soria created her work in complete discretion, until a few wine journalists spotted her, and later catching the attention of the american Robert Parker.
It has to be said that in a Langueguoc going through its countryside revolution, Marlène started with very little means other than her courage and her determination: she will make great wines and this end justifies the small means. A lover of great Côte-Rôties and of Yves-Saint-Laurent, Marlène Soriah makes Syrah the dominant grape, variety in the blend, and ages in concrete vats painted pink, in an homage to the fashion designer.
The magic relies on low yields, and long ageings (two years in inox vats, doubled in bottle) in order to polish t he tanins and to reveal noble tertiary notes: smoked lard, black truffle, clove.
Syrah Léone aften impresses with its power and its volume, Clos des Cistes always shines with its balance and a vibrant acidity.
