The producer

Klara

After close to a century producing some of the finest wines in Bordeaux, the Dillon family and Prince Robert de Luxembourg have chosen to focus their attention on another French region, close to their heart. The Klara family of organic southern wines offers a natural expression of this story. The South of France holds a special place in the heart of Prince Robert. In the early 50s, his paternal grandfather, Prince Felix de Bourbon de Parme purchased an estate beside the Fort de Brégançon, now the favoured summer residence of the President of the French Republic. It was here that Prince Robert and his family would spend their summer holidays. In 1979, Prince Robert’s mother acquired a holiday retreat in St. Remy de Provence, in the heart of the Alpilles. Later, this tradition continued when Prince Robert acquired and renovated an abandoned farm in the bucolic southern Luberon hills which would itself become a welcome vacation retreat over the next few decades. These rare but intense family moments gave rise to a particular ever-growing fondness for this region, its people and of course its wines. Klara is thus naturally a one-way ticket to the South of France. By its very nature, it offers a gateway to joyful celebrations, conviviality and the vacation spirit. A sip of Klara is everything from sitting in a café in St. Tropez to listening to the song of the cicadas to enjoying the sound of the breaking waves on the beach while sipping an apéritif at sunset. The Klara Family of wines are 100% organic and selectively sourced from passionate and experienced Southern French wine producers. This means that our wines support sustainable organic production methods that are free of chemical fertilizers & pesticides, as well as no GMOs or synthetic additives. Aided by almost a century of blending expertise in the family company Clarence Dillon, we have selected some of the finest organic wines from throughout the region and produced elegant cuvées that reflect their roots. Nathalie Bassot-Dworkin, Director of Operations & Head Oenologist for Klara, has formed and developed relationships with wine producers throughout the region, all along the southern arc of the Mediterranean, including Côtes du Rhône, Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence. As a Vin de France, Klara has the ability to source and blend the finest wines from these prestigious appellations.
