Domaine La Soufrandière

Although this estate has remained in the family since 1947, it is today the story of two brothers. When Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret took over the vineyard in 2000, the entirety of the grapes were still sold to the winegrower's association. From the very start the two brothers fell in love with this bedrock, in southern Burgundy, which was then overlooked by connoisseurs. The "Bret Brothers" are now renowned and recognized as emblematic producers of Chardonnays. They embody the renaissance and new dynamics of the Mâcon region. Today,Domaine de Vinzelles covers 11 hectares of vineyard, after the acquisition of vines in Saint-Véran and Pouilly Fuissé in 2016. All plots are cultivated with a great respect for the living, and they acquired the Demeter certification in 2006. The Bret Brothers are convinced that biodynamic viticulture enables a reflection of the soil almost directly into the glass, it gives the grapes more structure and body. Any decision made at the estate follows the rhythm of the moon calendar, and the use of herb teas replaces chemical treatments. A fertile and nutrient-rich soil encourages the plant to draw its resources from deep down In addition, this cultivation practice constitutes a formidable prevention against drought and vine diseases. This commitment is obvious in the Domaine’s iconic cuvée "Les Quarts". An outstanding terroir located at an altitude of 250 meters, south-east facing. The ground, rich in iron oxydes, and very stony, gives birth to a wine of great class, with a balance that qualifies it in the same league as other renowned chardonnays. The first nose opens on buttery cherry notes, and grilled sesame beans. The intensity of the aromas seduces, and soon engages the tasting of the nectar. The mouth then reveals a precise and vibrant energy of its own. Simply delicious!
