Clos Saint Fiacre

The Clos Saint Fiacre is located eleven kilometers away from Orléans, in Mareau Aux Près. The history of the estate has been tightly linked to the setting up of the regional Appellations (Orléans and Cléry), since Daniel Montigny, then owner of the Estate, also has been the president of the winegrowing syndicate for 25 years, and dedicated his life to the birth of both AOC. When Bénédicte and Hubert Piel took over the 17 hectares Estate in 2001, they immediately implemented environmentaly-friendly principles. Several works in the vineyard would allow an optimum maturity of the grapes: pruning, leaves removal, green harvests... The soils here are sandy-clay, with a chalky underground. This confers the wines extra concentration, and density. The Orléans of Clos Saint Fiacre is a majority of Chardonnay, with 10% Pinot Gris. Very accessible and aromatic, this is the ideal wine to start a meal.
