The producer

Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin

The estate ws founded in 1983, when Jean-Michel Gerin took over the family farm. Five years later, the winegrower released his first vintage, with a single vineyard approach to the slot "Les Grandes Places". Here, the vines of Syrah are rooted on the hillsides, and grow into the famous schists of this area. The grapes are fully destemed, and will then macerate for four weeks before to start the alcoholic fermentation. The ageing lasts twenty months, in new barrels, in order to render a voluminous and racy wine. Today, twelve hectares make up the Estate, and the addition in 1992 of a part of Landonne established it among the finest of the Appellation. These wines need some time to age in the cellars, but the Estate also elaborates a wine to enjoy in its youth: the Champine. These are young syrah vines, on granite soil, and the wine is greedy, accessible and vibrant.
