The producer

Domaine Yann Durieux - Recrue des Sens

In a former life, Yann Durieux was in charge of the vineyard of Domaine Prieuré Roch. He stayed for ten long years, before to start on his own, on the village of Messanges. He created the Domaine Recrue des Sens in 2010, in the heart of a Burgundy that never was classified by the monks. This settlement on a foreign land was first due to a financial constraint, but it soon became evident to the winegrower. The Hautes-Côtes represented quite a blank page, which particularly suited a winegrower eager to do away with the norms and their limitations. It meant that his wines would be declassified (or rather upgraded) into Vin de France. In the vineyard, an absolute precison guides the winegrower: the whole estate is managed with biodynamic principles, in the most serious respect of the living. Once the grapes have been taken into the cellar, a vinification with very limited interventions allowed Yann to handle the grapes without damaging their true nature. The yields are microscopic (between 5 and 10 hl/ha), and the harvest is almost always managed in full clusters. The result? Juices full of vibrancy, clear as springwater, with a touch that rivals with the finest wines of the Côte.
