Domaine U Stiliccionu

Corsica is nicknamed « Island of Beauty », and this reflects well in the wines of Sébastien Poly. He inherited of 4 hectares of vineyards from his grandfather in 2006. The Estate is located in Serra di Ferro, in the granitic Tavaro valley. The winemaker’s vegetal heritage is of tremendous beauty: very old vines rooted deep into profound clay, vines that have never received any chemicals at all. Sébastien’s personality shines through his wines: they are among the frankest and most unconventional of the island. He refuses to use any oenological ready-made tool. Instead, he opts for indigenous yeasts while his wines are unfiltered and not treated with sulphur. Among the different wines of the Estate, our firm favourite is Kaliste (« the most beautiful » in Phoenician), a blend of the two « king » grape varieties from Corsica: sciaccarellu and niellucciu. The grapes are turned into wine and aged in 600-litre barrels, and in egg-shaped concrete vats. The balance is impressive. The wine boasts a dense, fleshy texture, and impresses with its overall finesse and powdered tannins. A truly digestible wine that perfectly embodies the charm of the « Island of Beauty ».
