Château Pavie

Contemplating the Dordogne in the distance, from its Saint Emilion limestone plateau, Pavie is an emblematic "Château", sometimes called a UFO by its peers. The style of this Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" is unique, first of all by its blend. The proportion of cabernet franc is indeed important (up to 25%), and eases the expression of king merlot, especially in the warmer vintages. Smaller yields and more depth could be the motto of Gérard Perse, proud owner of the Estate since 1997. For more than twenty years, the wines have embodied a dense and broad style of Saint Emilion. In its youth, the tanins are tight and ripe, and the wine is rather quiet and attentive. With ageing, the wine deploys itself and its power slowly fades, leaving place to a plenitude only to be found in great Bordeaux wines. Made from the young vines of the Château, the Arômes de Pavie already shows some of the character of the first wine, and seduces with its accessibility.
