In Saint Emilion, Ausone is a flamboyant jewel, actually the only Estate (with Cheval Blanc) to have been ranked Premier Grand Cru classé A in the 1855 Classification. The seven hectares Estate boasts a precious vegetal heritage: a collection of cabernet francs, in massal selection, planted at mid-hillsides, that compose the blend in equal part with the merlots. This reunion achieves a wine with tremendous balance: the grace and structure of the cabernet marries the merlot's volume. Each bottle holds the promise of a great emotion, a moment that we should wait for at least 10 years, for the fresher vintages.
