Claire et Florent Bejon

To all the detractors of Cabernet Franc (this hard and indigestible grape variety, which in reality does not suffer from any under-ripeness or cover-up): the wines of Claire and Florent Bejon will change your mind. Before embarking on their winemaking journey with Claire, Florent was already well known in the region: employed at Brault, he bottled the greatest (Richard Leroy, Benoit Courault, Tessa Laroche...) with surgical precision. It will take a few years before they can both work fulltime in their vineyard. The parcels are scattered and fragmented, with different soil compositions, for a total of around 2 hectares in the region of Chinon. The Saint Germain cuvée comes from a sandy-clay plot. The harvest is vinified without sulfites in several containers: aged barrels, stainless steel tanks and amphoras. The balance is impressive: the wine is supple, full-bodied and relaxed at the same time. The couple owns a small parcel of chenin, named "Les Gruches": very old vines planted on flinty clay. This is a very rare and confidential wine that rivals the greatest chenins of Anjou.
