Domaine de La Coulée de Serrant

For all wise gourmets, the name of the Coulée de Serrant has been radiating since ancient times. If the vineyard is already planted in the 12th century by Cistercian monks, it is at the beginning of the 20th century that Curnonsky, famous gastronome, crowns the wine among the five greatest white wines in France. We have to say that the vineyard, owned by the Joly family, is a jewel. Biodynamics has been carried out on the entire property since 1981, and the old massale selection chenin vines flourish on schist and quartz' soils worked with horses. Every year, it is light grapes that the harvesters harvest between the end of September and the beginning of November, carrying out three to five manual sortings over five weeks. Yields are very low (about 20 hectolitres per hectare) and if the grapes are concentrated, the residual sugar content after fermentation rarely exceeds 5 grams. The Domaine also produces a Roche aux Moines (Le clos de la Bergerie) and a Savennières (Les Vieux Clos). The Coulée de Serrant has an almost eternal longevity and we advise you to wait at least fifteen years before opening this precious bottle.
