Domaine de Bellivière

Founded on a philosophy of absolute respect for the living (biodynamics), Domaine de Bellivière is a benchmark for the Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir appellations. The estate was created ex nihilo in 1995 by Éric and Christine Nicolas. Passionate about enology, the couple settled in the Loir valley with the ambition of revealing the mineral potential of terroirs that were then in decline. In 2015, their son Clément joined the operation, bringing a new technical momentum, notably with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art gravity cellar. The operation now covers approximately 20 hectares, fragmented into 65 plots spread across five communes (Lhomme, Ruillé-sur-Loir, Chahaignes, Marçon, and Dissay-sous-Courcillon). Geology : The bedrock consists of tuffeau (Turonian chalk), a porous limestone rock that ensures perfect water regulation for the vine. The surface soils are composed of flinty clays which bring tension and smoky notes to the wines. Located at the northern limit of viticulture, the vineyard faces harsh northern conditions (recurring spring frosts) that require constant attention. The Estate has been certified organic since 2008 and Biodyvin (biodynamics) since 2011. In collaboration with nurseryman Lilian Bérillon, the estate uses grafts from its oldest vines to preserve the genetic diversity of its heritage. The modern cellar allows for the handling of grapes and juices without pumping, preserving aromatic integrity and limiting oxidation. Fermentations are carried out using indigenous yeasts with minimal use of sulfur. The two cultivated grape varieties are Chenin Blanc and Pineau d'Aunis. In the Jasnières appellation, the following white wines are found : Prémices: From young vines, an accessible cuvée focused on fruit and freshness. Les Rosiers: A selection of barrels offering more density, flowers, and salinity. Calligramme: A monumental cuvée from 70 to 80-year-old vines, renowned for its depth and immense aging potential. In the Coteaux-du-Loir appellation (whites and reds), we find: L’Effraie (White): An elegant "sec-tendre" Chenin with notes of white fruit and flint. Vieilles Vignes Éparses (White): From eighty-year-old vines, a complex wine with an "electric" finish. Rouge Gorge (Red): 100% Pineau d'Aunis (45-year-old vines). A fine, floral, and intensely peppery wine.
