The producer

Domaine Thibaud Boudignon

The Domaine Thibaud Boudignon, founded in 2008, has quickly established itself as an essential reference in Loire Valley viticulture. Located on the outskirts of Savennières, this 7-hectare estate (including 5 in Savennières and 2 in Anjou) produces some of France's greatest white wines. Thibaud Boudignon's background is atypical: a former high-level judoka, he trained in the vineyards of Bordeaux and Burgundy, notably with Philippe Charlopin. His wines are described by their tension and salinity. Thibaud exclusively uses indigenous yeasts and does not practice malolactic fermentation. The aging takes place in various wooden containers (barriques, foudres) with minimal use of new wood. For the "Franc de Pied" cuvée, the wine is aged in unique glass globes, highlighting an extreme commitment to purity. The Domaine produces several emblematic Chenin Blanc cuvées in Savennières. The Clos de la Hutte comes from a half-hectare parcel on schist, with vines planted in 2011. It is aged for 18 months in barrels and one year in bottle. The Clos de Frémine, adjacent to Clos de la Hutte, is located on a terroir of schist and aeolian sands. La Vigne Cendrée grows on schist and clayey silts. It is aged in barriques and foudres without new wood. Thibaud also produces a remarkable Anjou Blanc. All wines from Domaine Thibaud Boudignon are renowned and recognized for their aging potential.
