The producer

Domaine Anthony Thevenet

2013 marks the first vintage of Anthony Thevenet. The young winemaker inherited from his grandfather a precious set of old vines, located in Morgon and Chénas, in the Beaujolais. Anthony first learned his trade with the neighboring winegrowers, inspiring personalities such as Jean Foillard and Georges Descombes. These committed people transmitted to him a strong sensitivity to biodynamic farming. As a result, synthetic inputs are banned, and the soil is worked exclusively by hand. Anthony interprets the magical terroir of the Côte-du-Py with real delicacy. The grapes are first carefully sorted, then fermented thanks to the indigenous yeasts present on the skin and in the cellar. A carbonic maceration always follows (between 10 and 20 days), then a maturation in concrete tanks or in old vats. The wine is never fined or filtered. The result is deadly accurate: lots of fruit, few tannins, and a thirst-quenching mouthfeel.
