Domaine Jean-Michel Alquier

The Jean-Michel Alquier Estate is one of the finest vineyards of Faugères. Jean-Michel Alquier has taken on the reins of the family estate and therefore represents the 5th generation of winegrowers. Facing the future, the winegrower wishes to be an exception in the sad description often made of Faugères, with wines purportedly too concentrated and tannic. A dozen hectares of vineyards planted on schists and clay, at 300 meters of altitude. An idyllic setting with great potential when taking into account the local summer droughts. The family decided to switch the plantations to more resistant massal selections. Today, the Estate stands alone as a true vine museum, presenting century old syrah, and other old grenaches, carignans, mourvèdres... The vines give birth to singular wines, capable of conveying true emotions. The cuvée Maison Jaune pays homage to grenache, it presents a supple and syrupy wine. Les Bastides d'Alquier are made with 100% syrah: this wine is very rich in various spicy flavours, that will seduce the more serious amateurs of the northern Rhône region.
